Located at 19302 Promenade Dr. in Lansdowne, VA (Tel.: 571-333-5223), this Japanese eatery now rates much higher on our list since we originally tried it two years ago. New management has made a significant difference in the food and service.

Our favorite dishes are their salmon and yellow tail “sets” – a single fish dish which combines sushi, sashimi and spicy maki. So far, this is the best sushi we’ve found in the Northern Virginia area. We’ve tried quite a few, but it’s hard to realistically compare them against Sushi restaurants in New York. City. Nonetheless, Noku has simple, fresh dishes and friendly service. We also like the Chef’s more creative special maki rolls. We find their plate portions are just right, with entrees including miso soup and salad. And while they do not allow substitutions, they do allows us to omit a veggie in their “AAC” vegetable roll (avocado, asparagus and cucumber) as our kids do not like one of them .

Prices are very reasonable, great service and I will go back again; it’s my #1 choice for sushi in this area.

Redskins star Brian Orakpo also like to come to this sushi place once a week.

We have been going to this sushi restaurant for many years and it’s always is the best quality fish and very unique sushi. It’s located at 1143 First Ave. (between 62nd St. and 63rd St.), Tel.: 212-371-0238. The sushi chef/owner of Seki, used to work at the famous Sushi of Gari and was trained under the sushi master – Gari Masatoshi.

We had order few times by menu and we have tried also Omakase. It’s can be very expensive, but if you love good quality sushi, you would not be disappointed. Lately we have order several times take out and sushi quality is the same: unique pieces and very fresh fish.

We have been 4 times over past few years and I’m looking forward for chance to go back again.

Usually we order 8 Course Modern Kaiseki ($128) and it’s one of the best, tastiest, unusual and most enjoyable meals. One of my favorite is a little fried crab that can be all eaten. The top dish is kobe beef (Kaiseki with Wagyu, $192) cooked on the hot red stones. You can get a seat at the counter and talk with the owner chef, Mr. Sugiyama, fantastic experience; real iron chef!

This is pricey but worth all of it!

There are so many cool restaurants in Hawaii and we were trying every night new one and at end I came up with list of my favorites.

Our best Japanese were:
Sushi Bar in the Aupaka Terrace at Kauai Marriott Resort & Beach Club. Sushi chef had really fun for my request of all kind spice and funky rolls. This was my very favorite sushi place in Hawaii, which is open five nights a week.

Musashi at Hyatt Regency Waikiki Resort & Spa in Honolulu, Hawaii and address is 2424 Kalakaua Avenue, Honolulu, Tel.: (808) 237-6148. We sat by bar and sushi chef was cutting the best quality sushi and sashimi for us. It was very fresh and tasty fish, but did not have any fancy varieties and that what I really enjoy. Place by itself has very nice decor, make it’s feel like in real Japanese restaurant.

Sansei Seafood Restaurant & Sushi Bar , which is one of DK Restaurants. This was my kind place, lot of different fancy appetizers, sushi and we were very full after leaving this restaurant. Only this place did not have any decorations. This sushi is located at 2552 Kalakaua Avenue, Honolulu and tel.: (808) 931-6286
