BLT Fish is Executive Chef Laurent Tourondel’s salute to the “surf” and namely, the sister restaurant to BLT Steak and BLT Prime bistros that specialize in the “turf”-side of the food chain. Located at 21 West 17th Street, between 5th and 6th avenues of Manhattan, this two-floor establishment offers casual dining on the main floor and a more upscale dining experience upstairs. We opted for casual fare on the lower level also known as the “Fish Shack”. We found the food to be delicious and worth the trip. With its festive atmosphere and lively crowd, it’s a great place to meet for drinks and for a solid meal. If you like the raw side of things, this bistro also features an impressive raw bar with a vast selection of shellfish.
As we sat down, we were served warm garlic bread with herb butter. Yum! For appetizers, we ordered the seafood platter and Buffalo shrimp. We would recommend these selections. Our main entrees included yellowfin tuna and a lobster roll, served with grilled corn-on-the-cob. The grilled tuna was really enjoyable, while the lobster roll was just okay. (If you’re looking for a memorable New England-style lobster roll, we would recommend the Pearl Oyster.) For a big treat of seafood, visit BLT Fish on Mondays, Wednesdays or Sundays and you will be offered All-You-Can-Eat Mussels or a Rock N’ Roll Clambake. Although it can be expensive, BLT Fish is worth a visit. We plan to go back again.
